Yuasa Battery Sales will exhibit advanced nano-carbon VRLA batteries for large energy storage and remote renewable power applications at Data Centre World 2015 (11th & 12th March in London). The SLE-1000 and SLR-1000 batteries feature advanced nano-carbon technology for superior deep long cycle life and are designed specifically for use in large capacity applications such as renewable storage.

Offering up to 3,000 deep discharge cycles at 50% depth of discharge, the modular unit design of the SLE-1000 enables easier installation and occupies less space than traditional batteries. The terminal position at the front of the battery also contributes to easier maintenance in even the largest energy storage solution. SLE-1000 batteries feature a nominal voltage of 2V and nominal capacity of 1,000Ah/10hr. Maximum discharge rate is 1,000A and the batteries can be used across the ambient temperature range from -15 to +45°C.

SLR-1000 batteries are based on the same form factor as SLE-1000 versions but are designed for use where frequent discharge cycles are encountered. These 1,000Ah/10hr nominal 2V high capacity cyclic cells can be deployed in a wide variety of large energy storage applications and offer up to 5,000 cycle life at 50% depth of discharge.

The company is also showing its range of front terminal batteries that are designed for use in telecommunications, datacentre and UPS applications. The FXH range is available in seven models with capacities of 45, 90, 100, 140, 180, 190 and 200Ah (8hr rate except 90, 100 and 200 models at 10hr rate). These VRLA rechargeable batteries feature flame retardant ABS case material (UL94V0) and are suitable for use over temerpatures from -15 to +50°C (discharging) and -15 to +45°C (charging and storage).

The front terminal design of the FXH series makes it far easier for engineers to connect multiple batteries in power systems and also makes maintenance and replacement of batteries a simple operation. With terminals only at the front of a standby system, engineers can simply slide out and replace a cell without having to reach over multiple cells and connect top terminals.

Also on show are examples of the company’s Endurance EN and ENL series batteries designed for use in all standby applications. These include the ENL100-12FT battery that features a 15 year design life and is designed from the ground up to fit into standard telecomms equipment racks. Both terminals are at the front of the cell making it easier to connect batteries when situated in power cabinets. The battery shape differs from standard designs being longer and narrower so that just a single row of batteries is required in a telecomms rack.

Specifications include nominal voltage of 12V with nominal capacity of 100Ah at 20°C to 10.8V. Standby life expectancy is 15 years at 2.26V/cell float charge at 20°C.

Features include M6 female threaded stud terminal and UL94V0 flame retardant ABS case material (Oxygen index 30). Dimensions are 558x125x233mm with mass of 41kg. The VRLA battery design enables its use in any orientation except permanently inverted. Like all other Endurance batteries, Yuasa’s ENL100-12FT is fully compliant with IEC61056 and IEC60896-21/22.

Yuasa is also showing its industry leading SWL range of high discharge rate long-life VRLA batteries, ideal for UPS applications with up to 40% higher short-term discharge power compared to conventional VRLA batteries.

Yuasa Battery Sales is exhibiting on stand C10.
