Creating high performance materials from sustainable feedstock

Royal DSM has announced that it will start a strategic partnership with Neste, to enable the production of high performance polymers. This enables DSM and its customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their own products whilst supporting the industry to transition to a circular economy.

DSM halves the carbon footprint of Akulon PA6

Global science-based company in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, Royal DSM has announced that its Engineering Materials will offer its existing Akulon PA6 portfolio produced in Europe with a significantly reduced carbon footprint by the beginning of 2021, thus offering the lowest carbon footprint of PA6 available in the market.

Significantly reduced emissions at vitamin production facility

Global science-based company active in Nutrition, Health and Sustainable Living, Royal DSM, announced that it reduces its CO2 emissions at its vitamin production facility in Sisseln, Switzerland, by 50,000 tons/year through a new biomass heat and power plant on the site.

High-resistance plastic withstands temperatures up to 230°C

  The world’s first high-volume use of high-heat plastic in an Air Intake Manifold (AIM) that integrates a water-cooled Charge Air Cooler (CAC) has been developed by Royal DSM in collaboration with automotive supplier Mahle.

Bio-based portfolio expanded

The range of high temperature resistant bio-based polymers from Royal DSM has been expanded with the introduction of a new family of high performance polyamide 4T materials, partially produced from renewable resources, called ForTii Eco. These new materials fit with the growing need of faster, thinner and more sustainable devices in the electronics industry.

Several companies in the wearables sector have employed Royal DSM’s Arnitel thermoplastic elastomer for soft straps, according to the science-based company – these include Samsung for its latest Galaxy Gear S2 smartwatch.
