Elcogen will supply its technology for a new project demonstrating how reversible solid oxide cells can be used in innovative clean energy storage systems. Elcogen’s market-leading solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology will be used in the upcoming REFLEX project, which will operate an energy hub coupled to solar and mini-hydro renewable sources to provide both electricity and heat to the nearby technology park.

Making an appearance at Intersolar 2017 Europe in June, Delta presented a broad portfolio of high efficiency PV inverters and battery energy storage solutions. The energy storage system ES30 series, is an all-in-one and highly scalable solution integrating li-ion batteries for up to 90kWh capacity with more than two hours of continuous 30kW back-up power. Also on show was the new high performance string PV inverter M88H series, featuring maximum 88kVA output power, peak efficiency up to 98.8%, active cooling and an electromagnetic interference (EMI)-proof design.

With the new lithium ion energy storage option – the BMZ Energy Storage Systems (ESS) – both private and commercial solar system operators have the ability to inexpensively store solar energy during the day, then use it in their own homes or businesses as needed. The new storage system, designated ESS 9.0, has a rated capacity of 85kWh and a lower specific price than its little brother, the ESS 7.0.

One of the key technologies needed to transform world energy supplies away from fossil fuels and toward clean, renewable sources is a cheap and reliable way of storing and releasing energy. That will enable intermittent supplies such as solar and wind power, with their variable and often unpredictable outputs, to store energy that’s produced when it’s not needed and to release it when it’s needed most (or can be sold for the best price).
