Vishay have today announced the introduction of a new stainless steel power resistor with high power capability up to 20 kW (higher values on demand) at 40 °C and a high operating temperature range of - 25 °C to + 250 °C for applications in extreme environments.
Providing protection IP00 to IP23 and a robust design, the new Vishay Draloric VSGR will be used as a converter and brake resistor in windmill, solar, diesel generator, turbine, and railway applications. Offering an excellent price/performance ratio, the device features a power rating from 5 kW to 20 kW; resistance range from 0.1 Ω to 75 Ω, with other values available on request; resistance tolerance of ± 5 % and ± 10 %; and a temperature coefficient of 250 ppm/K.

The RoHS-compliant resistor offers an easy-to-mount design and complies with Vishay Green standards.

Samples and production quantities of the VSGR are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
