Test bench aids in university FEN research

The Institute for Power Generation and Storage Systems of the E.ON Energy Research Center (E.ON ERC) of RWTH Aachen University has been supplied with test bench systems from GE. The test bench systems are used to evaluate power electronics converters and high-speed drives in the range of up to 5MW.

Technology could cut cost of offshore wind electricity by 15%

Signalling an important step in lowering the cost of power delivered from offshore installations, GE Power Conversion has announced the successful trials of PassiveBoost - its technology to allow remote power networks to go DC. The technology also paves the way for increasing the electrical output delivered from renewable energy sources in distant, inhospitable places.
