450kW gas cogenerator achieves 81.5% overall efficiency

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Toho Gas have jointly developed a 450kW gas cogeneration system, to be launched into the Japanese market on 1st April. The gas cogeneration system, which is based on a previously introduced 380kW system, achieves a power output of 450kW, made possible primarily through optimisation of combustion and the adoption of efficient components.

They reveal a general perception that things are moving much more slowly than is actually the case, with the exception of a few aspects such as use of fuel cells and continuous charging, both of which are failing to progress at the intended speed.

With features including a flexible modular design, low power consumption and ultra-slim dimensions, the PC can handle a multitude of deployments within the “smart building” including applications within air conditioning, fire detection, lighting, parking, energy management, access control and building management systems.

DFI is offering a Qseven module, the BT700, based on Intel’s Atom E3800 microprocessor aimed at smart metering applications and designed specifically to meet the performance/wattage requirements of intelligent systems. Using the low-watt processor is a cost-effective way of reducing power usage. Data collected from the meter is sent to the communication system via LAN or UART.

Nano timers reduce standby power consumption by 80%
Texas Instruments today introduced two programmable system timers that significantly reduce system standby power consumption. The TPL5000 with watchdog timer and TPL5100 with MOS driver draw only 30 nA of current, a reduction of 90 percent compared to competitive solutions. They also replace a microcontroller’s internal timer, allowing the MCU to remain in low-power sleep mode.

Riello UPS Multi Sentry achieves Government standard in energy efficiency

Uninterruptible Power Supply systems manufactured by Riello UPS could now save buyers thousands of pounds in upfront costs after qualifying for Government energy efficiency standards. The Riello UPS Multi Sentry range between 30 and 100 kVA has been listed on the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) Energy Technology List which encourages businesses to invest in approved energy saving technologies.
