Ivy League institution acquires 2 lidars to study turbulence
A pair of continuous wave ZephIR 300 wind lidars have been acquired by Ivy League institution Cornell University. The Lab took possession of two ZephIR 300 lidars, specialist equipment for ground-based remote sensing of wind flow in the atmosphere. The University selected ZephIR 300 in order to accurately, precisely measure the wind and turbulence interactions between the atmosphere and wind turbines.

Fraunhofer has successfully validated a wind lidar buoy, confirming the commercial acceptance of wind data from the on-board ZephIR lidar for use in floating offshore energy assessments, according to the Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator roadmap's criteria for the commercial acceptance of floating lidar technology.

The MGJ3 and MGJ6 series of configurable output voltage, high isolation DC/DC converters have been introduced by Murata. The 3 and 6W converters are optimised for use as high- and low-side gate drivers in IGBT and MOSFET bridge circuit designs for end applications including motor drives, traction control drives and wind turbine generators.
