General Motors is building an eBike and wants you to name it!
Since committing to an all-electric future, General Motors is developing revolutionary, flexible electrification technologies that will enable our team to dream beyond the traditional vehicle and give our customers the freedom of movement that they seek. Today the General Motors team brought one of those dreams to life when it revealed two innovative, integrated and connected eBikes – one folding and one compact – without a brand.
Partnership to create power solutions for vehicle electrification
A driver of energy efficient innovations, ON Semiconductor, has announced an Official Supplier relationship with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Mercedes EQ Formula E team that will extend their automotive power solutions leadership onto the highly competitive world stages of Formula One and Formula E.
Paving the Way for Flexible Solar Cells
At the EU PVSEC conference, imec presented a thin-film tandem solar cell consisting of a top perovskite cell developed by imec within the partnerships of EnergyVille and Solliance, and a bottom CIGS cell from the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research. The tandem cell resulting from this collaboration achieves a record efficiency of 24.6 percent.
The Growing Need to Store Excess Energy
Energy storage isn’t just for those rechargeable household AA batteries. Improved methods of storing and distributing energy from the energy grid could dramatically improve the way the world accesses power. In fact, using batteries to store energy on a large scale could help create a more economic and environmentally friendly energy grid. Here, Jürgen Resch, Energy Industry Manager at energy grid software provider COPA-DATA, explains.
Sharp Receives Order to Construct Mega Solar Power Plants
Sharp will construct mega solar power plants at locations in Binh Thuan Province and Long An Province in Vietnam, each with a capacity of approximately 49 MW-dc for a combined capacity of approximately 98 MW-dc.
Rethinking electric vehicle components
Electric vehicle power electronics manufacturer REO UK has released an infographic explaining the three key areas for improvement in EV components. The infographic is available to download for free from the REO UK website and aims to help electrical and design engineers choose high quality electrical components to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their upcoming EV projects.
ECWFG Series Contributes to Automotive Applications
With the advent of the Electric Vehicle market, Panasonic has capitalized on its burgeoning Film dielectric technology, to create new products for on-board charging and powertrain electronics. The new AEC-Q200 qualified ECWFG series from Panasonic features an operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C; a rated voltage of 630V.DC, and a nominal capacitance range of 1.0µF to 4.7µF. This enables it to cater to most of the high...
First all-electric bus route in Taipei
The city of Taipei, Taiwan, has opened its first all-electric bus route, with the fleet powered by electric drive trains delivered by Danfoss EDITRON, the electrification arm of the Danfoss group. Twelve buses serve the 31.5km long route across Taipei, linking four MRT stations, 11 schools and five major business districts.
